Attorney-General Robert McClelland today said Commonwealth Government financial assistance for flood affected communities in the Illawarra/South Coast region of New South Wales will be extended to Shoalhaven City and Eurobodalla Local Government Areas.
Commonwealth disaster assistance is now being provided through the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) to a total of six Local Government Areas in the region: Bega, Bombala, Kiama, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven City and Eurobodalla.
“This extension of assistance comes after the Shoalhaven City and Eurobodalla were declared natural disaster zones by the NSW Government,” Mr McClelland said.
“Assistance available includes emergency assistance for individuals impacted by flooding, concessional loans for small businesses and primary producers as well as reimbursement for the cost of repairing critical public infrastructure, once certain thresholds are met.
“NDRRA assistance is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and State Governments and payments are administered by NSW Government agencies.”
Assistance available includes:
- Individuals whose principle place of residence has been damaged may be eligible for personal hardship and distress grants. Enquiries should be directed to the NSW Department of Community Services on 1800 018 444;
- Concessional loans of up to $130,000 for small businesses and primary producers. Enquiries should be directed to the NSW Rural Assistance Authority on 1800 678 593;

The Commonwealth, through Emergency Management Australia, will continue to work closely with New South Wales authorities to ensure affected communities have the support they need.
